The sector encompasses any establishment that serves food to people outside of their home and typically includes restaurants, carryout operations, cafeterias, university dining halls, catering and vending companies.

Restaurants and other food service establishments are a driving component of Missouri’s economy. There are 11,200 eating and drinking establishments in Missouri supporting 300,300 job and $11.7 billion in sales.
